I call this piece Desire. This piece is inspired by Mayank Austen Soofi or the Delhi walla. Mayank is a photographer and a writer. But more than that, he is an admirer of literature. In his work (his Instagram page: @thedelhiwalla and his Hindustan Times blog), the people of Delhi, places, architecture and great works of literature all merge into one. I feel like true desire is the desire to be seen.
Mayank wrote his book "Nobody Can Love You More" about the infamous GB Road in Delhi. He interviewed the sex workers of GB Road for well over three years and penned down his observations. His book, which has inspired Artwork 5, is a story of how to be human in unfavourable conditions.
The guy in Desire, has the same hairdo as Mayank. That is my favourite easter egg. It is a reminder of Mayank's way of seeing life.
